To give you a proper introduction about ourselves, Our journey with farming citrus started with the discovery of the Satsuma mandarins during a fishing trip in Louisiana. While exploring the local area, Farmer Joe discovered these delightful fruits and fell in love with their sweet flavor and easy peel. Inspired by this encounter, he decided to start growing Satsumas back home in Statesboro, GA. Satsuma mandarins, a popular citrus fruit, are renowned for their sweetness, juiciness, and easy-to-peel skin. Satsumas are typically seedless and small to medium-sized, with a bright orange skin that is slightly rough. Their flavor is sweet with a hint of tartness, appealing to both children and adults alike. This remarkable discovery of finding a variety that could be grown here in South Georgia marked the beginning of the Franklin’s Farms citrus-growing adventure.
Since then, we have expanded our farm to include not only Satsuma mandarins but also lemons, grapefruit, and several different varieties of mandarins. Our commitment to quality and sustainability has allowed us to farm a diverse array of citrus, providing our loyal customers with fresh, flavorful options throughout the season.
